BOONE, N.C. – App State Men's Basketball announced Wednesday that it will host its annual Tip-Off Dinner on Friday, Oct. 3. The event will be held at the Holmes Convocation Center.
Tickets cost $150 per person, while children under 12 years old can get in for $30. There is also an option to sponsor a table that includes eight seats, your company logo featured on the sponsored table and your company logo appearing on the video board for $1,800.
National championship-winning coach Tubby Smith will headline the night's festivities as the keynote speaker. Smith was a head coach for 31 years at the Division I level, making stops at Tulsa, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, Texas Tech, Memphis and High Point. He was named the Coach of the Year in three different conferences (SEC three times, Missouri Valley twice and Big 12 once), while also being named the National Coach of the Year three times (2003, 2005 and 2016).
Smith owns a 642-369 (.635 winning percentage) career record as a head coach and helped guide his teams to seven regular-season conference titles and five conference tournament championships. Smith's teams made 18 NCAA tournament appearances, nine Sweet 16 appearances and three Elite Eight trips. In 2016, Smith was recognized with the John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching Award and was also named a 2024 SEC legend. In addition to his career at the collegiate level, Smith is also a gold-medal winning coach with the USA Olympic Team, winning the 2000 Gold Medal at the Sydney Olympics.

Attendees to the Tip-Off Dinner will be treated to dinner and get an inside look from Coach Kerns on the upcoming season. There will also be a question-and-answer with this year's team and a silent auction.
