Sun Belt Conference Announces 2025-26 Men’s Basketball Conference Schedule

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference and App State Men's Basketball announced the 2025-26 conference slate Thursday. The 18-game schedule features nine games at the Holmes Convocation Center, where the Mountaineers own a 25-4 record since the start of the 2023-24 season.

App State is set to open Sun Belt play by hosting Coastal Carolina on Thursday, Dec. 18. That date ties the earliest start to conference play for the Mountaineers in the Sun Belt era, after App State also tipped off Sun Belt play on Dec. 18 a year ago.

Following the conference opener, the Mountaineers will host Georgia State on Saturday, Dec. 20, before playing a season-high four straight games on the road. That stretch will include stops at Old Dominion (Dec. 31), Marshall (Jan. 3), Georgia State (Jan. 8) and Coastal Carolina (Jan. 10).

Once play concludes in Conway, S.C., App State will start a four-game homestand on Jan. 15 by welcoming James Madison to the Holmes Center. Two days later, the Mountaineers will host ODU (Jan. 17) before wrapping up the homestand with Louisiana (Jan. 22) and ULM (Jan. 24).

Continuing a five-game stretch against Sun Belt West schools, App State will hit the road for games at Southern Miss (Jan. 29) and Troy (Jan. 31). The Mountaineers will then host South Alabama on Wednesday, Feb. 4, marking the Jaguars' first visit to Boone since Feb. 19, 2022.

A brief conference hiatus follows the contest with South Alabama, as the Mountaineers will host a MAC opponent on Saturday, Feb. 7, as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge, which also includes a Nov. 3 road game against Central Michigan to begin the season.

Road games at Georgia Southern (Feb. 11) and James Madison (Feb. 14) precede the final two home games on the 2025-26 schedule. App State's home schedule concludes with Marshall on Thursday, Feb. 19, and Georgia Southern on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The Mountaineers wrap up the regular season in San Marcos, Texas, for a duel with Texas State on Feb. 27.

Following the action in San Marcos, the Mountaineers will head to the Pensacola Bay Center in Florida for the Sun Belt Tournament, which begins March 3.

App State enters the 2025-26 season with back-to-back 10-win campaigns in conference play, marking the first time it has done so since the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. Additionally, since 2019, App State owns the most regular-season conference wins of any team in the Sun Belt with 65. That mark is three clear of the next closest teams (South Alabama and Troy with 62 apiece).

The 2025-26 team returns seven players from last year's roster and welcomes five collegiate transfers and four freshmen. App State has posted six consecutive seasons with a winning percentage of .500 or better, marking the first six-year stretch of winning basketball in the High Country since 1946-52.
