BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State women's cross country took the top-five spots and eight of the top-10 places to win the team title at the Mountains to Sea Open on Friday evening.
App State finished with 15 points to win the meet, Northern Kentucky was second with 48 points and Lees-McRae was third with 85 points.
For the second straight meet,
Izzy Evely led the Mountaineers across the finish line in a PR time of 17:25.11. Her time ranks as the fifth fastest time in program history and is the third fastest time ever run by a sophomore in program history.
Kylee Frady finished second overall in a PR time of 17:50.97 and
Sarah Venable was right behind in third-place with a PR time of 18:00.73.
Rounding out the top-five finishers for the Black and Gold and in the meet were
Natalie Richardson, who was fourth in a PR time of 18:17.12, and
Lila Peters, who crossed fifth in a PR time of 18:17.60.
Casey Turro finished seventh (18:27.51, PR),
Sarah Sandreuter was right behind in eighth (18:38.55, PR) and
Madi Provo rounded out the top-10 with a 10th place finish (18:47.51, PR).
The Mountaineers will take next weekend off and compete as a split squad on Oct. 5. A group will head to Louisville for the Greater Louisville Classic and another group will run at USC Upstate at the USC Upstate Invitational.
