BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's tennis travels this weekend to the Georgia Southern Shootout hosted by the Eagles in Statesboro, Ga. Oct. 12-14.
Appalachian will compete against GS, Winthrop, Emory, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, North Carolina A&T, Savannah State and Savannah College of Art & Design.Â
The tournament will consist of eight singles flights and four doubles flights.Â
App State captured a singles title from María José Zacarias, as she went 3-0 en route to her first fall championship at the Jimmy Powell Invitational last weekend.
Kate Earnhardt also advanced to her singles flight title match but fell in a tough three-affair. Two of her wins were against Davidson opponents.Â
Zacarias and
Heidi Swope highlighted the doubles portion with two of the four wins, defeating Elon in both contests.Â
App State finished the weekend with 12 victories.Â
The Mountaineers will participate in the ITA Carolina Regionals hosted by North Carolina next weekend in Chapel Hill.Â
