BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University volleyball will open up Sun Belt Conference play this weekend with a trip to the state of Arkansas to face Little Rock and Arkansas State.
The Mountaineers will play Little Rock on Friday before a matchup with defending Sun Belt champion Arkansas State on Saturday. Both matches are set for a 7:30 p.m. start.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
Three different Mountaineers have registered over 150 kills this season, which includes two freshmen in Kara Spicer (173) and Lexi Kohut (157). Redshirt sophomore Melissa McMath rounds out the offense with her team-high 178 kills.
Senior Ashlyn Brown has paced the App State offense with 535 assists (first in SBC) for a 9.73 assists-per-set average (second in SBC).
SCOUTING THE TROJANS
Little Rock will enter Friday's Sun Belt Conference opener with a 7-6 overall mark this season. The Mountaineers hold a 1-5 all-time record against the Trojans.
The Trojans have two student-athletes who have accumulated over 100 kills: Marina Avram (123) and Veronica Marin (116). Defensively, Arkansas State is led by Sydnee Martin who has made 192 total digs and averages 4.27 digs per set.
SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES
Arkansas State will enter Saturday's match after opening its conference season against Coastal Carolina on Friday. App State has yet to beat Arkansas State in six matches since joining the Sun Belt in 2014.
The Red Wolves lead the Sun Belt with a 2.56 blocks-per-set average. Jessica Uke leads that attack with 38 total blocks this season. Carlisa May and Drew Jones are the leading attackers for Arkansas State with 183 kills and 164 kills, respectively.
