BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's track and field is ready to host its second meet of the indoor season when it hosts the Mountaineer Indoor Open on Fri. and Sat., Jan. 30-31 at the Holmes Center.
Teams that will compete this weekend with Appalachian State includes the following: Lenoir-Rhyne
Queens, King (TN), Lees-McRae, Mars Hill, Voorhees, Livingstone, Belmont Abbey, Carson Newman, Milligan, Converse, Montreat, UNCG, Louisburg and St. Andrews.
The Mountaineers are coming off some solid performances from last last weekend at the Hokie Invitational. Phillip Thomas claimed first-place in the pole vault and cleared 15-5.75 feet.
In the 400 meter dash, Raphael Rojas took fourth with a time of 48.51, while Ryan Hastings finished just behind Rojas in seventh with a time of 49.35 - a personal-best.
In the 5,000 meter run, Kyle McFoy and Chris Anderson finished in sixth and ninth-place, respectively. McFoy finished in 15:04.66, while Anderson crossed the finish line in 15:48.78 - a personal-best.
The distance-medley team consisting of Evan Laratta, Will Henderson, Josh Hanna and Hastings took fourth-place with a time of 10:20.18. In the long jump, freshman Kimani Hoffman took seventh-place with a jump of 23-0.50 feet.
