Men's Track and Field Finishes Hokie Invite

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Appalachian State University men's track and field finished up the Hokie Invitational on Saturday.

The Mountaineers were highlighted by Phillip Thomas' first-place finish in the pole vault when he cleared 15-5.75 feet. Patrick Quinn took eighth with a height of 14-10.00 feet and Matt Layne finished 12th by clearing the same height.

In the 400 meter dash, Raphael Rojas finished with a time of 48.51. Ryan Hastings was right behind Rojas in seventh-place and crossed the finish line in 49.35 - a personal-best.

In the 5,000 meter run, Kyle McFoy and Chris Anderson finished in sixth and ninth-place, respectively. McFoy finished in 15:04.66, while Anderson crossed the finish line in 15:48.78 - a personal-best.

The distance-medley team consisting of Evan Laratta, Will Henderson, Josh Hanna and Hastings took fourth-place with a time of 10:20.18. In the long jump, freshman Kimani Hoffman took seventh-place with a jump of 23-0.50 feet.

The Mountaineers will return to action when they host the Mountaineer Indoor Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31.
