NEW ORLEANS – After a record-breaking regular season, three App State Tennis players earned all-conference honors as the Sun Belt Conference announced its postseason awards on Wednesday.
Junior
Savannah Dada-Mascoll was named to the all-conference first team for singles, while sophomore
Naledi Manyube earned second-team singles honors. Additionally, the duo of Dada-Mascoll and
Taya Powell secured a spot on the All-Sun Belt Doubles second team.
Savannah Dada-Mascoll – Singles First Team All-Conference
Dada-Mascoll posted an outstanding junior campaign, finishing with a 17-2 record — all from the No. 1 position. The heartbeat of the team, she ended the regular season on a nine-match win streak, with eight of those wins coming in straight sets. Her three-set victory over #52 Marshall was pivotal in helping the Mountaineers earn their first ranked road win in program history.
During a dominant stretch against Gardner-Webb, Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern, Dada-Mascoll went 6-0 across singles and doubles play, earning Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors on April 9. This marks the third consecutive season the Yorkshire, England, native has been named to the All-Sun Belt first team.
Naledi Manyube – Singles Second Team All-Conference
Manyube enjoyed a stellar sophomore season, finishing 13-2 in singles play. In Sun Belt competition, she posted a 6-1 record from the No. 2 spot, consistently anchoring the lineup. She went almost two months without a loss, stringing together a 10-match win streak from Feb. 8 to April 2.
Her performance included a perfect 3-0 record against #48 South Alabama and Southern Miss, earning her Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors on March 19. This is the first All-Sun Belt selection of her collegiate career.
Savannah Dada-Mascoll / Taya Powell – Doubles Second Team All-Conference
The pairing of Dada-Mascoll and Powell played a key role in the Mountaineers' 10-match win streak to close out the season. The duo went 6-1 overall, including five wins against Sun Belt opponents — all from the No. 1 position.
They opened their six-match win streak with a clutch, tiebreaking victory over #52 Marshall, putting the Mountaineers one point closer to sealing a historic win. Consistently setting the tone in doubles, Dada-Mascoll and Powell have proven to be a reliable top-pairing force.
