Scouting the Mountaineers
App State continues the beginning the 2026 season following a historic fall by Dada-Mascoll, currently ranked No. 6. Dada-Mascoll defeated nine ranked opponents, including then-No. 1 DJ Bennett, en route to becoming an NCAA singles quarterfinalist and earning All-American honors. Dada-Mascoll was also named Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week after her performance against Virginia Tech All-American Özlem Uslu in the second match of the season.
The Mountaineers are coming off a record-breaking 2025 season in which the program earned 17 wins. That run included nine Sun Belt Conference victories, eight of which were consecutive, as part of a 10-match winning streak.
This year's roster retains six players: Dada-Mascoll, Broadbent,
Alexi Cleveland, Manyube, Powell and
Isabela Romanichen. Third-year head coach
Hannah Fetters also added two newcomers: Balaji and Hodson.
Scouting the Catamounts
Western Carolina (0-3) enters the match after finishing 15-10 (4-3 SoCon) in 2025. The Catamounts return one player from last year's squad and added six newcomers. App State last faced Western Carolina in 2025, winning 6-1 in Cullowhee, N.C.
Western Carolina is led by head coach Bret Beaver, who is in his eighth year at the helm.
