AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Lily Bazemore and Isabela Romanichen capped off the first tournament of the fall season by securing first place in the Blue Flight at the Bedford Cup Finals on Sunday.
En route to the title, the freshman-senior duo knocked off the top-seeded team from Texas Tech 6-4 in the semifinals. In the finals, the Mountaineers edged past the host Air Force Academy team in a thrilling 7-6 (4) tiebreaker to clinch the championship.
Battling back from injuries suffered during the 2024–25 season, Romanichen made a impressive return to action at the Bedford Cup. Prior to her injury, Romanichen paired with Savannah Dada-Mascoll to win the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championships, earning the first NCAA fall postseason selection in program history.
In the Silver Flight doubles, sophomores Sreenidhi Balaji and Allegra Hodson fell in the finals to New Mexico after cruising through three straight victory rounds handily. Freshmen Shami Ndoro and Kate Bumgardner also made their App State debuts over the weekend, competing across both singles and doubles.
