BOONE, N.C. – App State Tennis hosts ETSU in their first match in the High Country of the 2025 season. Weather permitting, the Mountaineers will play their first official match at the App State Tennis Courts at the Appalachian 105 Complex at noon. The Mountaineers most recently fell to Furman to a score of 5-2 in Greenville, S.C. on Jan. 26.

Isabela Romanichen remained undefeated for the Mountaineers in singles, earning App State both of their points in the contest.

On the Mountaineers
The App State Mountaineers continue the 2025 season after recording an impressive fall campaign.

App State standout Dada-Mascoll and newcomer Romanichen had a great fall, winning the ITA Conference Masters Championships and qualifying for the NCAA Doubles Championships, both program firsts. The duo of Dada-Mascoll and Romanichen earned a national ranking of #23 because of their fall success, the highest a doubles pair has been ranked in program history.

Dada-Mascoll also qualified for the ITA All-American Championships, a prestigious tournament where only 128 of the nation's top players compete, showcasing some of the best talent in the country.Â
Last season was full of success for App State as the squad made it to the Sun Belt Championship match for the first time in program history in head coach
Hannah Fetters' first season at the helm. The Mountaineers finished the season tying a program record with 15 wins, and a 6-5 record in Sun Belt Conference play to finish seventh in the Sun Belt standings.

This season, App State returns five players from last year's team, headlined by Dada-Mascoll. As a sophomore, the Yorkshire, England, native went 21-2 in singles and won 15 doubles games, while also posting a 6-3 record against Sun Belt opponents.

Taya Powell also return to the High Country after stellar seasons last year as the two won 12 and nine games respectively in doubles play a year ago. The Mountaineers also welcomed newcomers

Alexi Cleveland and Romanichen to the High Country this past fall.

On the Buccaneers
ETSU finished with a 17-8 overall record and a 7-0 record in the SoCon. The Buccaneers return five out of seven players from last year's squad. ETSU most recently fell to Virginia Tech 4-3 in Blacksburg, Va. The Mountaineers last faced off against ETSU last season, with the Buccaneers coming out on top 6-1. Â

App State will hit the road to take on Western Carolina on Saturday. Play will begin at 1 p.m. in Cullowhee, N.C.
