BOONE, N.C. — The regular season for App State Wrestling concludes Sunday with championship stakes.
The Mountaineers (8-3, 7-0 SoCon) face Campbell (10-9, 6-1) at 3 p.m. in Varsity Gym.
App State clinched at least a share of the league's regular-season title with a shutout victory against Davidson last weekend, two days after a shorthanded Campbell team suffered a 24-11 loss at The Citadel, the league's third-place team. The Mountaineers will attempt to win an outright title Sunday in Boone, but the Camels can earn a share of the title with a victory in Varsity Gym.
App State and Campbell are a combined 118-11 in SoCon duals since the start of the 2016-17 season, with App State holding a 61-4 record in that span.
During the previous eight seasons, the Mountaineers won four outright SoCon regular season titles, and the Camels won three. They also shared a title during that stretch (in 2019), and Campbell placed second in the league during three of App State's four outright title runs. The Mountaineers finished second during each of Campbell's three outright title seasons.
In the previous seven duals between the Mountaineers and Camels, with 70 individual matches contested, App State has won 37 of them, compared to 33 by Campbell.
