BOONE, N.C. — App State Wrestling started its string of Sunday home duals with a dramatic rivalry win. The Mountaineers will need to show up with intensity and purpose this Sunday in Varsity Gym to maximize the stakes in play for the regular-season finale in Boone.
At 3 p.m. on Sunday, App State (7-3, 6-0 SoCon) hosts Davidson (4-12, 2-5 SoCon following a comeback win against VMI) in Varsity Gym. Seven wrestlers will participate in Senior Day ceremonies before what is doubling as a Hurricane Relief Match.
In coordination with North Carolina USA Wrestling and the National Wrestling Coaches Association via the US Wrestling Foundation, the "Wrestling Bridges The Gap" initiative
seeks donations that will help provide prefabricated bridges to areas affected by Hurricane Helene.
App State maintained its unbeaten league record last weekend by rallying for a 24-17 win against Chattanooga, which led 12-7 at intermission and held a 17-14 edge with two matches left. Campbell also had an unbeaten record in SoCon action until Friday, when The Citadel won 24-11 against a shorthanded Camels squad, meaning App State can clinch at least a share of the SoCon regular-season title with a win Sunday against Davidson.
