WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The App State women's track and field team opened the indoor season at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off at the JDL Fast Track on Saturday.
Sophomore
Ava Studney clinched first in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 3.65m (11' 11.75"). Senior
Celia Agee placed second with a clearance of 3.50m (11' 5.75") and sophomore
Caroline Fowlkes placed fourth with a clearance of 3.35m (10" 11.75").
In the women's long jump, senior
Taylor Smith placed third with a leap of 5.63m (18' 5.75"). Junior
Daiyanna Cooper took sixth in the women's shot put with a toss of 13.45m (44' 1.5").
On the track, freshman
Jayla Adams placed fifth in the 60-meter finals with a time of 7.70. Adams secured her spot in the finals with a time of 7.69, placing second in her heat and fifth overall in the preliminary race. Graduate student
Alexia Moehling placed sixth in the women's 60-meter hurdle final, clocking a time of 8.96. Moehling's time places her at ninth in the App State all-time list for the event. She also finished first in her heat and fifth overall in the prelims with a time of 8.99. In the women's 200 meters, sophomore
Daye Talley stopped the clock at 25.83 for a new personal best and a fifth-place finish.
Sophomore
Addison Ollendick-Smith also posted a sixth-place finish, stopping the clock at 1:39.01 in the women's 600 meters. Ollendick-Smith's time is within two seconds of her personal best and App State program record of 1:37.90, which she set last season.
