TRUMBULL, Conn. — App State's
Meghan Mitchell won the Connecticut Women's Amateur for the second straight year, claiming a two-stroke victory in the 36-hole event at Tashua Knolls Golf Course.
A native of New Canaan, Conn., Mitchell recently completed her third season as a member of the women's golf team at App State. An opening-round score of 73 (with four birdies and nothing worse than a bogey) gave her the lead with a 1-over total entering the final round, and she closed with a 78 for a 151 total.
Mitchell was sidelined for most of last year and is just now rounding back into the form. She led by two shots after 18 holes in Trumbull and increased her lead to as many as five shots in becoming the 11th player to win multiple Connecticut Women's Amateur titles.
