Women's Tennis Set for Home Opener Versus Davidson

BOONE, N.C. -- App State women's tennis will host Davidson in its home opener on Saturday. First serve is set for noon at Deer Valley Athletic Club.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

• App State dropped a tight 4-3 decision at Radford on Wednesday.
• On Wednesday, Erika Dodridge and Virginia Poggi posted a pair of wins. The tandem teamed up for a 7-6 (6) victory at No. 2 doubles. Dodridge then won 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, while Poggi won at No. 3 singles 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. Olwyn Ryan-Bovey also posted a win by a  6-3, 1-6, 6-0 count at 5th singles.
• In singles play, Helena Jansen and Dodridge are tied for the team lead with six wins each.
• Overall, Dodridge has a team-best 11 wins, with five coming in doubles. Dodridge and Poggie have teamed to post a 2-1 record in the spring season in doubles play.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

• Davidson stands at 1-1 on the season after defeating UNCG on Feb. 5.
• In the win, Elizabeth Truluck and Mira Gladstone won 7-5 at No. 2 doubles and Emma Heiderscheit and Franny She won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles. Shea won 6-0, 6-1 at 5th singles and Gladstone posted a 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
• Shea and Heiderscheit are 1-1 as a doubles team and also are 1-1 in singles action.
