BOONE, N.C. - The App State men's and women's cross country team will close out the regular season at the Wildcat Invite, hosted by Johnson & Wales at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. on Oct. 21. The women's 5K is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with the men's 8K to follow at 5:40 p.m.
Last Time Out
The App State men's squad took first with 30 points and the women placed second with 75 points at the the USC-Upstate Invite in Spartanburg, S.C. on Oct. 15.
Junior
Oliver Wilson-Cook set pace for the Mountaineers in the men's 8K race, clocking a time of 25:03.9, placing fourth individually. Fellow
Dwayne Lillie placed fifth (25:10.6), followed by sophomores
Garrett Bivens and
Chase Burrell, who finished sixth (25:10.6) and seventh (25:13.8), respectively. Finishing with a time of 25:14.8 to place eighth was senior
Ryan Teuscher and freshman
Tucker Sangster clocked a time of 25:22.9 to finish tenth.
Sophomore
Linnea Maynard led the Mountaineers in the women's 5K, crossing the finish line with a time of 18:28.8 to place fifth overall. Stopping the clock at 19:04.1 was senior
Madison Christy, who placed 17th. Sophomores
Bianca Copeman,
Karsyn Kane, and senior
Lila Peters placed 20th (19:11.4), 21st (19:13.1), and 22nd (19:13.4), respectively.
Rankings
The App State men's squad moved to tenth in the NCAA Southeast Region rankings on Oct. 17.
