BOONE, N.C. - The App State men's and women's cross country team is set to travel to Spartanburg, S.C. for the USC - Upstate Invite on Saturday. Competition will start at 9 a.m. with the women's 5K, which will be followed by the men's 8K at 9:45 a.m. at the Milliken Research Center.
Last Time Out
The Mountaineers competed at the Live In Lou Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Ky. on Oct. 1. The men's squad placed sixth in the team standings with 259 points and the women's team took 32nd with 865 points.
Graduate student
Ryan Brown led the Mountaineers in the men's 8K gold race, clocking a personal best of 24:07.4 to place 30th individually. Freshman
Ethan Lipham took 35th with a personal best of 24:10.0 and junior
Oliver Wilson-Cook placed 58th with his own PR of 24:23.1.
In the women's 5K gold race, sophomore
Linnea Maynard crossed the finish line with a time of 18:21.0 to place 138th. Following Maynard was junior
Jasmine Donohue, who placed 18:21.2 to finish 139th.
Rankings
For the first time in three years, the App State men's squad moved up to the top-10 in the NCAA Southeast Region rankings, moving to ninth on Oct. 3. The ninth-place ranking comes after three consecutive weeks ranked 11th in the region.
