BOONE, N.C. - App State women's cross country opens the 2021 season on Friday in the Covered Bridge Open. The 8k will begin at 5 p.m. at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm Fields.

Scouting the Mountaineers
- App State was recently picked second in the Sun Belt Preseason Poll.
- Izzy Evely is back after a First-Team All-Sun Belt showing. Three runners who finished in the top 37 return, as Lila Peters, a Third Team All-Sun Belt honoree, is back with Madison Christy and Taylor Houston.
- Head coach Michael Curcio brought in 10 newcomers for cross country, including Troy transfer, Macki Walsh. Walsh earned Second Team All-Sun Belt honors last season.

Appalachian will have next week off before hosting a second meet on Friday, Sept. 17, the Firetower Project at Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm Fields.
