About the Mountaineers
The Mountaineers finished 1-1 in preseason play during its two exhibition contests, falling against ETSU and having a shutout against UNCG.
App State returns eight of its 11 starters from last season, including five of its top eight leading goal scorers, while 12 newcomers make their debut. In addition, App State returns starting goalkeeper, Kerry Eagleston, between the posts.
The Mountaineers have not faced a season opener at Ted Mack since 2017 against High Point. In the last 10 years, the Mountaineers have gone 6-4 overall in season openers.
The Apps finished last season with a 6-11-1 mark overall and a 4-6-0 record in league play.

UNC Asheville fell 0-3 in its exhibition contest against Georgia Southern. The Bulldogs went 2-7 overall and in the conference last season. UNC Asheville returns starter, Skyler Chillson, who led the team in goals, along with starter, Gillian Oyos, who had one goal last season.
