Nathan Karl earned All-Sun Belt honors with a third-place finish in the shot put on Day 2 of the Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday evening.
Through two days and seven scored events, App State sits eighth of 10 teams with 12 points. UT Arlington holds the team lead with 50 points, Arkansas State is second with 49 points and host South Alabama sits third with 47 points.
Karl covered a PR distance of 53-3.00 (16.23m), which bettered his previous best by over two feet. Karl posted his top mark on his last toss of the day to finish third in the event.
Calbert Guest also scored points for App State in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The freshman finished seventh overall in a PR time of 9:23.72 for two points.
In prelim action,
Jabari Johnson advanced to the finals of the 100-meter dash. His time was seventh overall in prelims with a season-best mark of 10.61 seconds.
The final day of competition sees field events beginning at 12:30 p.m. EST with the men's triple jump and running events starting at 5:05 p.m. EST with the 4x100-meter relay. Coverage begins on ESPN+ at 5 p.m. EST.
