Women's Golf To Tee Off In Sun Belt Championship Sunday

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's golf to tee off in the 2021 Sun Belt Championship starting Sunday from Daytona Beach, Florida.

All three rounds of the Sun Belt Championship will be aired on ESPN+ and will comprise of all 11 women's golf affiliate members. The LPGA International and the Hills Course, par 72 and 6,193 yards, is the designated course of choice for the three-day, April 18-20, championship event.

One 18-hole round will be played per event day. App State enters the tournament ranked 10th overall in the conference, according to the latest Golfstat rankings.

Senior Abby Bolt, senior Sarah Hardin, senior Carrie Catherine Ganim, graduate student Melany Chong and junior Kayla Ward will make the 570-mile trip to suit up for the Black and Gold. The Mountaineer starting five is scheduled tee off Sunday's opening round between 8 a.m. and 8:36 a.m.

App State is averaging a 6.7th place team finish this season. In fact, App State is coming off a third-place team effort at Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, April 5-6, in which three Mountaineers placed top 15 or better on the player leaderboard.

The Mountaineers have also had recent success at Sun Belt Championship as the Black and Gold recorded its lowest team round in program history at the 2017 championship event, a final-round 285.

App State would place third in 2017, marking the best Mountaineer team finish at the tournament. In 2019, App State finished 8th.
