GREENVILLE, N.C. — Led by a top-10 finish from record-matching freshman
Alisa Pressley on Tuesday, App State Women's Golf tied for fifth place in a 15-team field at the Pirate Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina.
The Mountaineers posted a 20-over total in the 54-hole event (295-294-294—884) to end up two strokes behind fourth-place James Madison and finish ahead of two other Sun Belt programs that competed at Brook Valley Country Club.
Pressley, the 18-hole co-leader, was in second place with a 6-under total with four holes to play in the final round before tying for eighth at 2 under (69-73-72—214) on the par-72 layout. It's the second-lowest 54-hole total in program history, behind only classmate
Zoe Duval's 211 in the previous event on Sept. 16, and Pressley tied Duval's 2-under total from the Elon Invitational as the lowest 54-hole score relative to par in program history.
There are six rounds in program history with an 18-hole score of 3 under or better, and three have been recorded this fall, including two by Pressley. She was the highest Sun Belt finisher in the event.
The 20-over team total of 884 ranks third in program history for lowest 54-hole score and second in program history for lowest 54-hole score relative to par.
Duval tied for 37th place at 7 over (77-73-73—223). She has shot 73 or better in seven of her nine fall rounds to date.
Salem Lee's 9-over total (74-78-73—225) produced a tie for 41st, and
Ona Lukes tied for 45th place at 10 over (75-75-76—226).
Maria Pinedo tied for 78th at 21 over (82-74-81—237).
The top three team finishers were East Carolina (16 under), High Point (11 under) and Louisville (6 over). ECU medalist Lisa Forrs finished at 12 under, keyed by a 10-under 62 in the second round.
The 2025-26 season is presented by Hound Ears Club. App State concludes its fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday at the Terrier Intercollegiate in Spartanburg, S.C.
