Women's Golf Sets Team, Individual Records in Greenville

GREENVILLE, N.C. — App State Women's Golf established new team and individual records relative to par as the Mountaineers placed sixth among 13 teams at the Pirate Collegiate Classic on Tuesday.

App State finished with a 10-over team total of 289-290-295—874 on the par-72 layout at Greenville Country Club, topping the previous program record (relative to par) of 12 over for a 54-hole event. The 874 total ranks third in program history, behind the 12-over 864 from last season at the Elon Invitational (par-71 layout) and a 21-over 873 from last season at the GolfWeek Fall Challenge (par-71 layout).

Zoe Duval's even-par total of 72-71-73—216 in Greenville put her in a tie for 18th place to lead the Mountaineers this week.

Addison Douglass tied for 24th place at 3 over (67-72-80—219), and Alisa Pressley recorded seven birdies in her final round to tie for 26th at 4 over (75-74-71—220).

Douglass' 5-under 67 in the opening round set a program record for the lowest round relative to par and tied three current teammates (Duval, Pressley, Ona Lukes) for the lowest single-round score in program history.

A first round with seven birdies and two bogeys enabled Douglass, a freshman in her second collegiate event, to hold the lead through 18 holes. She was tied for second place entering the final round at 5 under.

Douglass, Duval, Pressley and Lukes (75 on Monday morning) contributed to a 1-over team score of 289 for an opening-round result that tied for the fifth-best team round in program history, before the Mountaineers followed that with a second-round 290 thanks to scores counting from Duval, Douglass, Hayden Cherry (73) and Pressley.

Lukes tied for 45th at 10 over (75-76-75—226). Cherry tied for 57th at 17 over (84-73-76—233), and Salem Lee tied for 59th at 18 over (80-77-77—234) while competing as an individual.

NC State won the team title at 13 under, nine shots clear of UNCG. NC State's Marie Madsen and UNCG's Kasey McIlvaine both had 8-under totals for the 54-hole event.
