BOONE, N.C. - App State returns to action for the first time in 13 days on Saturday when it hosts Western Carolina at 3 p.m. in the home opener at Deer Valley Racquet Club. The Mountaineers will play a second match in as many days against No. 11 Duke in Durham, N.C. at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.

Scouting Western Carolina
Western Carolina is 2-1 to start the season with both victories coming against Lenoir-Rhyne. The Catamounts' loss came at the hands of Clemson on Tuesday in their most recent match. Four different student-athletes boast two victories in singles play, while WCU is 11-7 overall in singles. Saturday's opponent is 5-3 in doubles with five tandems heading into the match with a victory.Â
Scouting No. 11 Duke
Duke will play a pair matches on Sunday, as it will face Furman at 11 a.m. before taking on the Mountaineers. The Blue Devils are 3-1 highlighted by a 4-1 win over then-No. 22 Michigan. Duke is 15-7 in singles, where five different athletes have multiple wins. Chloe Beck, Margaryta Bilokin, Meible Chi and Georgia Drummy are all 3-1 to lead the way. Duke features two tandems in doubles that have 4-0 records. Kelly Chen/Drummy and Karolina Berankova/Beck are both 4-0, leading Duke to a 9-1 mark overall.Â

The Apps will face their third-ranked opponent of the season in No. 1 North Carolina on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
