BOONE, N.C. - App State women's soccer made a comeback in a 2-0 shutout against Louisiana on Thursday night at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
The Mountaineers move 5-10-1 overall and 1-8-0 in conference play, while Louisiana falls 6-9-2 on the season and 3-4-2 in league play.
The Mountaineers had a dominant first half, maintaining ball possession for the majority of the contest.
In the 16th minute of the contest, the Apps notched its first goal of the night when Hayley Boyles sent a cross into the box and found the foot of Breckyn Monteith, who found the back of the net.
Ten minutes into the second half, Katie Fuller scored her first-career goal, that was a long shot, in the 56th minute of the contest, giving the Black and Gold the 2-0 lead.
App State was able to keep the Ragin' Cajun scoreless, after Kerry Eagleston recorded her 11th clean sheet, tallying 12 saves between the posts. Eagleston is now one shutout away from tying Emma White (2006-09) for fourth all-time in program history.
App State wraps up the regular season with Senior Day on Sunday against Little Rock at 1 p.m. at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex. The final home match will be streamed on ESPN+.
