BOONE, N.C. - App State women's golf and head coach Heather Brown announced another addition to the 2021 signing class Saturday, North Carolina native Layla Meric.

"I'm always delighted to sign an athlete with a no quit mentality," Brown said. "I am looking forward to watching her flourish as a Mountaineer."

She ranks eighth in the Tarheel Youth Golf Association junior girls ranking for the class of 2021. With a round average of 78.63, Meric ranks 20th overall among all classes.

Her high school golf honors include three-time MVP, two-time Player of the Year, conference tournament winner, NCHSAA 3A Women's Golf Regional Champion and a top-five effort at the state championship.

Meric is also a routine medalist at PKBGT, CGA, TYGA and NVGT events. In her last 20 events, she has amassed two top 10s, five top fives and one tournament win.
