BOONE, N.C. - App State golf will host the Sun Belt Emoji Classic, an emoji golf tournament, on Twitter starting with a Women's Classic on Thursday.
The Men's Classic is tentatively set to begin the following week on May 28. Each emoji tournament is a three-day, three-hole virtual event.
A total of 14 Sun Belt golf programs have agreed to hit the emoji links. Participating Sun Belt teams will play from their own official golf Twitter accounts via a student information director and or a creative service staff member.
To shoot, a respective player will strategically remove an emoji tile and replace it with the ball-like emoji. The process is repeated until a team's ball-like emoji is said to be in the hole. Each account can either play a course layout periodically throughout the day or all at once.
Emoji Course Layout Example:
All scores will be randomized for competitive balance and kept with a leaderboard graphic each evening. Only one emoji hole layout will be played per day. The virtual layouts will range from par 3's to par 5's.
The hole of the day will be visible the morning of on either App State's men's or women's official Twitter accounts, depending on the classic.
