BOONE, N.C. — The All-SoCon wrestling team includes three standouts from App State, which also produced the league's Freshman of the Year and four members of the All-Freshman team.
Redshirt senior
Matt Zovistoski (157 pounds), junior
Thomas Flitz (174 pounds) and redshirt sophomore
Jonathan Millner (149 pounds) represented their weight classes on the all-conference team thanks to perfect 7-0 records in SoCon duals this season. Millner is 28-4 overall, Zovistoski has a 26-7 record and Flitz's 12-match winning streak has pushed his record to 28-10.
A true freshman at 125 pounds,
Sean Carter was named Freshman of the Year thanks to a 25-13 overall record that includes a 9-3 record in duals and a 6-1 mark in SoCon duals.
He's on the All-Freshman team along with redshirt freshman
Will Formato (22-13 overall, 4-3 in SoCon duals at 165 pounds), true freshman
Julian Gorring (19-14 overall, 3-2 in SoCon duals at 184 pounds) and redshirt freshman
Michael Burchell (19-11 overall as a heavyweight).
Zovistoski, Flitz, Millner and Carter are all ranked among the top 33 wrestlers in their respective weight classes by the latest NCAA Coaches Panel. App State (9-3, 6-1) is ranked No. 27 nationally in the latest NWCA Coaches Poll.
