BOONE, N.C. — App State Wrestling's final competition before the new year is a Wednesday evening dual at Duke.
The first match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium (instead of the adjacent Card Gym). Admission is free, and the dual will be streamed live on ACCNX.
The Mountaineers (2-4) have faced a difficult schedule to date and fared well against tough competition, having won four of 10 matches against both No. 17 West Virginia and No. 9 NC State. Victories against both the Mountaineers and Wolfpack have contributed to an 11-match winning streak for heavyweight
Stephan Monchery, who could potentially face one of two ranked Blue Devils in No. 23 Connor Barket, who won by tech fall in a Varsity Gym appearance last season.
App State's
Kaden Keiser (149 pounds),
Tomas Brooker (184) and
Jarvis Little (133) are ranked in the top 33 of their weight classes by various publications. For Duke, in addition to Barket, Aidan Wallace (174 pounds) carries a top-25 ranking that includes a No. 22 spot from Intermat.
The Blue Devils (5-3) already have their most dual victories in a season since the 2021-22 squad finished 7-10, highlighted by victories against Hofstra (24-17) and Gardner-Webb (24-22). Duke ended a three-match losing streak against Gardner-Webb and topped a Hofstra team that held a 15-10 lead on App State before the Mountaineers used wins by Brooker,
Logan Eller and Monchery to prevail 24-15.
Duke coach Glen Lanham's coaching staff this season includes a new assistant in App State Wrestling alum Codi Russell, a four-time NCAA qualifier during his time in Boone. He spent the previous two seasons as an assistant at Hofstra.
The 2025-26 season is presented by Hungry Howie's and Penn Station.
