BOONE, N.C. — App State Wrestling heads north to Bethlehem, Pa., for a busy weekend that includes the Mountaineers' first two duals of the season on Saturday and Journeymen Collegiate Classic tournament action Sunday.
With 12 teams involved in Saturday's wrestling, the Wranglemania duals pit App State against Hofstra at noon and Lock Haven at 4 p.m.
Lock Haven received a vote in this year's NWCA's preseason coaches poll after going 13-5 overall and 6-1 in MAC duals last season. It has a pair of ranked wrestlers in
Lucas Kapusta (No. 16 at 149 pounds by Intermat, No. 22 from Flo) and Nick Stampoulos (No. 23 at 165 pounds by Flo, No. 28 by Intermat).
Hofstra, which lost 24-15 against App State at last year's WrangleMania duals, is 1-0 this season with a 35-7 victory against Sacred Heart. The Pride's lone ranked wrestler is Noah Tapia (No. 32 at 149 pounds by Intermat).
App State has four wrestlers with top-33 national rankings:
Stephan Monchery (heavyweight),
Tomas Brooker (184),
Kaden Keiser (157) and
Aldo Hernandez (141). Keiser's move up from 149 has coincided with
Jeremiah Price's move down from 157 to 149, a weight he competed at as a freshman in 2023-24.
Brayden Fahrbach, another 149-pounder, picked up a ranked win last weekend at the Southeast Open.
App State's 2026-27 season is presented by Hungry Howie's and Penn Station..
