BOONE, N.C. - Coming off an impressive 6-0 win over UNCA on Sunday, App State women's soccer will head to the Queen City to face Charlotte on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
Appalachian (1-2-1) saw six different Mountaineers score with five of the student-athletes scoring their first career goal. Three of the scorers were freshmen in Olivia Cohen, Kyndall Edwards, and Hayley Boyles, while Tess Cairney and Gabby Cormier also scored goals for the first time in their career. App posted its first shutout of the season with Kerry Eagleston playing 70 minutes in the net and Alisa Ostwald boasting 20 minutes of play in her first time on the field this season.
Scoring Outburst
The six goals on Sunday are the most since the 2013 season when App State scored nine times against The Citadel on the road. Appalachian hasn't scored that many goals at home since 2005 when the Apps scored a school-record 11 times against South Carolina State.
A Win Would
Give the Mountaineers their first win over Charlotte while capturing their first road win of the season. App State is also looking to get back to .500 on the season through five matches.
Scouting Charlotte
The 49ers are 2-1 following a 3-0 loss against then-No. 25 Wake Forest this past Sunday. Charlotte defeated Akron in its season opener and dealt Longwood a 2-0 shutout. Leading the 49ers on offense is Julia Grainda, who has two goals while Riley Orr's one score is second on the team. Between the posts, Abby Stapleton has started in all three matches and has six saves with a 1.00 goals-against average. Stapleton has two shutouts so far for UNCC. Charlotte was picked to finish eighth in Conference USA.

App State is 0-5 all-time against Charlotte with the last meeting taking place in 2009.

The Mountaineers will close the week with a road contest against Tennessee Tech on Sunday at 2 p.m.
