Men's Cross Country Dominates Mountains to Sea Open

BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State men's cross country claimed the top six spots and 10 of the top 11 overall to win the Mountains to Sea Open at the Don Kennedy Trails on Friday evening.

The Mountaineers finished with 15 points, with Northern Kentucky placing second with 57 points and Lees-McRae finishing third with 67 points.

Isaac Benz led the Mountaineers across the finish line for the second time this season. He crossed in 25:07.74, which was just one second shy of his PR.

Ryan Brown crossed second overall with a PR time of 25:16.78. George Hotelling was right behind in third with a PR time 25:38.80, Ben Cignarale placed fourth with a PR time of 25:52.74, Sawyer Gwyn-Rowsom was fifth with a PR time of 25:55.18 and Oliver Wilson-Cook crossed sixth in a PR time of 25:55.18.

Luke Bennett crossed eighth in a PR time of 26:17.05, Ethan Barber placed ninth with a PR time of 26:29.30, Conrad Phillips finished 10th with a PR mark of 26:47.09 and Michael Flanagan finished 11th in 26:51.75.

App State will compete again on Oct. 5 at the Greater Louisville Classic and the USC Upstate Invitational.
