NEW ORLEANS - App State sophomore
Thomas Wlazlowski earned his first career Sun Belt Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade, the league announced on Wednesday.
Wlazlowski was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line at the Virginia Invitational, rounding out the top 10 with a time of 24:58.1. The Waxhaw, N.C. native helped the men's team to a third-place finish with 88 points in the team standings. He was 13 seconds shy of his 8K personal best of 24:45.6, which he set at the 2024 Joe Piane Invitational. It was also the second consecutive meet that Wlazlowski set pace for the Mountaineers. He led the Black and Gold with a personal best 6K time of 18:09.7 to place seventh at the Covered Bridge Open on Aug. 29.
Wlazlowski and the Mountaineers will return to the course for the Firetower Project Run at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm in Boone on Oct. 3. The men's 8K is slated for 5 p.m. with the women's 6K to follow at 5:40 p.m.
