NEW ORLEANS - App State's Noah Martinson was named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second consecutive meet, the league announced Wednesday.
Martinson led the Mountaineers for the third straight meet in the Fire Tower Project 8K, clocking an impressive time of 24:21.5 to earn a ninth-place finish in a field of 115 runners. It was his third top-10 finish in as many meets this season.
The Carrollton, Ga., native led the Mountaineers to their third consecutive team finish of third place or better, which included a 34-second spread time, their best in the 8K this season by nearly 20 seconds.
Martinson earned runner of the week honors for the first time this season with his performance at the Southern Showcase on Sept. 18. The last time a Mountaineer earned back-to-back SBC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors was Oliver Wilson-Cook in 2023.
