BOONE, N.C. - App State women's tennis opens the fall slate this weekend at the College of Charleston Invitational.
Head coach
Blake Mosley will get his first look at the 2019-20 squad with four returners in
Teodora Sevo,
Sandra Anglesjö,
Kate Earnhardt and
María José Zacarias. Mosley brings in three newcomers in Utah State transfer,
Sasha Pisareva,
Cassie McLay, and
Virginia Poggi.Â
App State is coming off a 15-6 season on top of a Sun Belt regular season title. The Mountaineers won their first league title in program history with a 9-1 Sun Belt record. Since going 5-19 in 2017, the Apps are 26-17 in the last 43 matches. Coach Mosley is eager to see where his group of veterans and newcomers are at in the first of five fall events.Â
"It's the start of year, and we're excited to get down to Charleston," coach Mosley said. "There's a mix of Sun Belt teams and non-conference teams that we we'll face in the spring. It'll be good to see where we are, how we stack up against them and what we need to work on moving forward."
The event features three flights (A1, A2, B1) with teams such as Charlotte, Wofford, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern and Sun Belt foes, Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern.Â
