PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - Appalachian State University men's tennis (5-20) suffered a 4-0 decision to Georgia State (16-9) in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Championship held at the Peachtree Tennis Center.
The Mountaineers were unable to come away with a Sun Belt Tournament victory for the third time in the past five seasons over a higher-seeded program.
App State's season ends, while GSU advances to the semifinals tomorrow.
Appalachian State was on Georgia State's heels in the doubles portion of the match despite the Panthers taking a 1-0 lead.
After GSU captured the match on Court No. 3,
Milo Bargeron and
Zion Heaven impressively defeated Giles Hussey and Jack MacFarlane by a score of 6-4.
Ben Webster and
Alex Pavkovich took their match into a tiebreaker to decide the doubles point but fell to Roberts Grinvalds/Andrei Duarte 7-6 (3).
The Panthers took the momentum into singles and claimed the first three finished singles matches by straight sets.
