Men's Tennis Falls in First Road Match of the Weekend at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis (1-6) fell to a hot Furman (7-3) on Saturday afternoon at the Mickel Tennis Center.

The gauntlet of a road schedule continued with the Mountaineers' sixth opponent in seven matches that boasts a winning record. 

App State fell early 1-0 to the Paladins after falling in the doubles portion of the contest. 

The Mountaineers was unable to gain any momentum with the hosts picking up wins in the six singles matches. 

Milo Bargeron would go up against the 104th-ranked player in the nation in Ivan Mitric on Court No. 1. Bargeron was upended by Mitric, 6-2, 6-1. Campbell Stone and Afonso Viana nearly took one of their sets to a tiebreak, but both Stone and Viana fell in straight sets. Stone suffered a 7-5, 6-3 loss to Jake Bhangdia, while Viana was edged 6-4, 7-5 to Jake Munns.

App continues the tough road slate tomorrow at 1 p.m. against an 8-0 UNC Asheville team. The Bulldogs boast the No. 1 doubles tandem in the country in Oli Nolan and Henry Patten. 

Combined with the Bulldogs' record, seven of the first eight opponents for App are a combined 50-17.
