BOONE, N.C. — Back in the championship hunt, Appalachian State Wrestling begins its final week of the Southern Conference regular season with a high-stakes dual at Davidson.

App State (6-6, 3-1) has come up with big victories against SoCon rival Chattanooga and ACC program Duke in its last two duals. A week after handing the Mocs their first conference loss and three days after posting a 21-17 road win against the Blue Devils, the Mountaineers found themselves as one of three one-loss teams in the Southern Conference thanks to Chattanooga's 18-12 win against Campbell on Sunday.
App State, which is seeking a fourth straight regular season championship, again controls its ability to earn a share of that title. Campbell dropped to 3-1 in the league with Sunday's loss to Chattanooga, which has finished its conference schedule at 5-1. The pieces are in place for a three-way tie involving Appalachian State, Chattanooga and Campbell — which all went 1-1 against each other.
Randall Diabe (senior at 197 pounds) and
Cary Miller (junior at 285 pounds) remain unbeaten in SoCon duals for the Mountaineers with 4-0 records, while
Codi Russell (133),

Michael Elliott (165) and
Alan Clothier (184) are 3-1.
Thomas Flitz (174) had a big dual-starting major decision against Chattanooga, and
De'Andre Swinson-Barr (125) came through with a huge win that provided App State's last non-guaranteed points in the four-point victory at Duke.
Davidson, which has lost 29-13 against VMI and 34-9 against Chattanooga in SoCon action, has two wrestlers with 2-0 dual records: Tony Palumbo (157) and Conor Fenn (184).
