Men's Tennis Finishes Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis netted 19 wins at the Davidson Fall Invitational this weekend hosted by the Wildcats.

The Mountaineers faced USC Upstate, Queens and Davidson in singles and doubles action. 

Three of four doubles tandems earned multiple wins while four Mountaineers picked up multiple singles victories.

On day one, Appalachian faced Queens in singles play and Davidson in singles/doubles competition. App State captured six of eight singles contests against Queens with Ben Webster, Alex Pavkovich, Zion Heaven, Campbell Stone, Blake Carter and Will Hart capturing victories to get the Black and Gold off to a good start to the weekend. Picking up singles wins over the hosts were Milo Bargeron and Heaven for the freshman's second victory of the day. Bargeron defeated Mason in straight sets and Heaven earned a hard-fought triumph against Green. 

In doubles play against Davidson, Webster and Heaven teamed up for a 7-6 (5) win as the top tandem in the lineup over Parkh/Fries. Bargeron and Brea were in the third spot, defeating the pairing of Rose/Green. 

Day two, the Black and Gold face USC Upstate in singles/doubles and Queens in doubles play. 

Webster was one of three players to earn a singles win against USC Upstate, downing Neto in a matchup of No. 1's in straight sets. Stone registered a 6-4, 6-4 win over Russwurm, and Carter notched a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Schiano. 

The Mountaineers swept doubles against Queens with all four doubles tandems picking up victories. Alex Pavkovich/Stone picked up the first of two wins on Sunday against the Charlotte area school as the No. 2 pairing in the lineup. Carter and Hart also earned their first win of the weekend against Queens. 

Finishing up the day was the doubles matchup against USC Upstate. Pavkovich/Stone won, 6-3, over Eble and Neto before Bargeron and Brea claimed a weekend-leading third win as a duo over Percy/Schiano. 

Appalachian will return to action in two weeks at the ITA Regionals hosted by Duke in Cary, N.C.
