About the Mountaineers
Sunday's matchup was originally scheduled for Saturday in Conway, S.C., however, the aftermath of Hurricane Florence forced the schedule change. With the game being moved to Ted Mack, the Mountaineers now have five consecutive home matches. It's the second time this season the Apps have at least five consecutive home contests. App is coming off a 2-0 start to conference action for the first time since 2014 with road wins over Troy (3-2 F/2OT) and Georgia Southern on Sunday, 2-1. Providing some pivotal moments were
Kat Greer with three goals over the weekend, including the game-tying goal with 35 seconds left to force overtime against the Trojans.
Blair Anderes nailed the game-winner in the second overtime, and
Jessica Easley tallied four points over the weekend with a goal and two assists against the Eagles.
Greer Named Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week
Because of her three goals in the victories, Greer was named the Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The Cayce, S.C., native either tied or gave App the lead with all three of her scores. She registered her first multi-score game against the Eagles with a pair of goals highlighted by the game-winning tally in the second period. Greer joined
Lauren Burke as the two Mountaineers to earn a weekly conference honor.
