ELON, N.C. - All six student-athletes for Appalachian State University men's tennis contributed to a solid weekend at the Elon Invitational.
Appalachian totaled 14 victories over the three-day event.
Campbell Stone highlighted the weekend where he advanced to the Powell Singles Flight title, defeating North Carolina Wesleyan's Robinson in three sets before a second straight three-set triumph against UNCG's Whisnant (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) sent Stone to the finals. Stone fell to Raymundo of James Madison, 6-4, 6-4.
Also making noise was
Milo Bargeron (Gold Singles) and
Will Hart (Powell Singles), who both advanced to the consolation title match. Bargeron downed both of his opponents in three frames, topping Rogowski (UNCG) and James Madison's Adia (6-7 (5), 7-6 (3), 10-6).
Hart, after falling in his match on the first day, reeled off a pair of back-to-back wins against Martherus (NCW) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, and Jaber (NCW), 6-3, 7-6 (9).
Both playing in the same singles flight (Phoenix),
Zion Heaven earned a 7-6 (1), 3-6, 6-4 first round win over Ted Williams from Campbell.
Blake Carter picked up a victory in the consolation bracket over R. Gende of NCW (6-4, 7-6 (1).
Ben Webster rounded out the Mountaineers in singles with a 6-1, 7-5 downing of Ben Wayland (Charlotte) in the consolation bracket.
In doubles play, Heaven and Bargeron captured a win in the Maroon Doubles flight against Palmer/Melnik of UNCG, 8-5. Webster and Pavkovich was up to their usual ways with an 8-5 victory over VCU's Crespo/Zgraggen, while later downing Meekens/Varga of Radford.
Stone and Carter topped Mavlyudov/Robinson from North Carolina Wesleyan.
