BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's soccer bounced back with an improved performance on Saturday evening against Campbell at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
The Mountaineers and Camels ended in a 1-1 tie before playing an extra 30 minutes in which App held a 1-0 advantage over the visitors.
"I was really pleased with the complete team effort tonight," head coach
Jason O'Keefe said. "We certainly got better from our last game, which is the goal to get better every day, week and month. Campbell is a well-coached, talented team, and our guys will grow from this experience tonight. We now turn our attention to Jacksonville and opening night."
Appalachian's freshmen all had a hand in both scores, as
Camden Holbrook found a sprinting
Charlie Baird who found a wide-open net inside the box for the score.
Aldo Tarantini scored his goal in the extra session inside the box with Philipp Paul collecting the helper to his fellow freshman teammate. App held an 8-6 advantage in shots with three of those shots on goal.
Jake Chasteen played all 90 minutes for the Black and Gold between the posts.
App will begin the regular season on the road with a pair of matches in Florida, beginning with Jacksonville on Friday at 7 p.m. before ending the weekend on Sunday against North Florida at 7 p.m
