Biography

2018: The Blowing Rock native saved his best season for last between the posts, starting in all 17 matches ... Chasteen's league-high and personal-best seven shutouts tied the mark for the second most in a single season in program history ... He was the top goalkeeper in the Sun Belt, as he led the league in goals against average (.844), save percentage (.762) and shutouts ... Nationally, Chasteen finished 26th in shutouts, 38th in GAA and 72nd in save percentage ... because of his impressive numbers and helping App record its first winning season since 2012 and a top-three finish in the league, he was named the Co-Sun Belt Player of the Year ... Chasteen was the first App player since 1989 (Carlos Lee - SoCon) to be named Conference Player of the Year ... in the offseason, he was named to Google Cloud's All-Academic District First Team and joined 32 other players from such schools as Syracuse, Michigan, Notre Dame, Marquette, North Carolina, Stanford, and Duke to land on the Google Cloud Academic All-American Team after posting a 3.91 GPA ... Chasteen allowed just one or fewer goals in 13 of 17 contests ... he anchored a defense that topped the Sun Belt in goals allowed with just 15 ... Posted back-to-back clean sheets against George Mason (9/29) and Georgia State (10/6), which led to a scoreless streak of 329 minutes ... After starting the season with a pair of wins against Jacksonville (8/24) and North Florida (8/26), Chasteen was named the Sun Belt's Defensive Player of the Week ... he finished his career with 138 saves, a .758 save percentage and 16 shutouts. 

2017: Saw action in a career-high 13 matches, starting all 13 contests…led all goalkeepers with 1247.00 minutes played, mustered 46 saves and a goals-allowed averaged of just 1.08…finished third in the Sun Belt in goals against average, fourth in save percentage (.754) and fifth in saves ... Chasteen also helped App become one of the best defenses in the league, where it posted four shutouts, which was tied for third in the conference ... his best stretch of the season came over four contests where he allowed just two goals including back-to-back shutouts against High Point and UNC Asheville .. he ended the season with a 3-6-2 mark ... helped lead his team to three victories, including pitching a shutout in a 1-0 overtime home victory against UNC Asheville (Oct. 10).

2016: Appeared and started in the first six games of the season in the net … logged 483:36 at goalkeeper before being sidelined the rest of the season with an injury … made 25 saves for a .694 save percentage … finished with a 1-5-0 record … had an impressive match against USC Upstate (Sept. 13) for Appalachian’s first win of the season … he finished with four saves on nine shots faced while allowing just one goal in the full 90 minutes.

2015: Started in all eight games he appeared in last season, logging almost 730 minutes in the net and allowed only three goals all year ... had 19 saves en route to five shutouts and App State outscored opponents 10-3 with him in the goal ... led the Sun Belt in shutouts per game (0.50) and save percentage (.864) ... was named Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after his performance against NJIT ... in the match, he had five saves en route to a clean sheet and his fifth shutout of the year ... he also matched that save-count against longtime rival Georgia Southern where he had five saves in 90 minutes, giving him his fourth shutout of the season and a key win against the Sun Belt ... in the Sun Belt Tournament last year, he had five saves against NJIT and Hartwick ... helped the Mountaineers lead the Sun Belt in defense, as they were tied for first in goals allowed (1.18) and was second in goals against average (1.16) and tied for second in shutouts (0.35).

High School: Attended Watauga High School in Boone … all-conference honoree as a junior and senior … all-region his junior and senior seasons … all-state junior year … was named MVP his junior season and awarded the coach’s award his senior year … carried a GAA of 0.50 in the 2012 playoffs … finished nine clean sheets in 22 games in 2013 … 10 clean sheets in 2014 … career GAA of 0.78 ... member of N.C. Fusion U18 Premier Elite … finished Spring of 2013 with a league goals against average of 0.66, good for best in the league.
