Harris Garners Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week Award

NEW ORLEANS - App State men's soccer's Zeiko Harris was named the Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Harris earns the honor for the first time in his career after posting a personal-high two goals in the 3-0 win at George Mason. The Apps earned their fourth shutout of the season over the Patriots, which is first in the Sun Belt.

He's the second Mountaineer in as many weeks to be named the offensive player of the week (Reed Hunnicutt;9/25), while the sophomore is the fourth athlete of the season to earn a weekly conference award (Camden Holbrook, Jake Chasteen, Hunnicutt).

After a 2-0 setback at High Point last Monday, Harris led the bounce-back victory with his first scores of the season. His goal at 42' gave the Apps a 2-0 lead before his second-half score pushed the lead to 3-0 en route to the triumph.

Harris has played a pivotal part in the Black and Gold's resurgence.  App has surpassed last season's win total with a 6-2-1 mark through the first nine matches of the season.

Appalachian begins Sun Belt play this Saturday against Georgia State at 7 p.m. at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
