BOONE, N.C. - Coming off a hard-fought loss at UNCW to open the season, Appalachian State University men's tennis (0-1) will look to rebound with three matches in two days including its home opener.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 4-2 setback to the Seahawks in their season opener.
Scott Webster and
Milo Bargeron were the No. 1 pairing and tied up the doubles portion with a 6-3 triumph. The duo won their 10th match together are 10-3 overall as doubles partners.
Spencer Brown and
Campbell Stone stepped up in their first contest together as they topped their counterpart to give App the 1-0 lead.
Appalachian couldn't continue the momentum as UNCW claimed the opening four singles finishes. Alex Pakvovich won the only singles contest in the close matchup as the No. 5 in the lineup to start the season 1-0. Six of Pavkovich's seven wins in his early career has come at the No. 5 position.
Scouting USC Upstate
The Spartans started the season with a 1-0 win against Eastern Washington in a close 4-3 win. Last season, the Spartans boasted just six wins in a 6-16 record but was a tough out at home with a 5-1 mark. USC Upstate's leading winner, Ignacio Garrido, returns after posting a 12-9 mark playing the 4-6 spots. Francisco Neto finished 11-10 for the second-most victories in four different positions for the Spartans. The Spartans finished 50-78 in singles matches. Fernando Bernardes/Garrido are the top tandem following a 10-9 campaign in 2017. The pairing had the most wins in the top spot with five.
Scouting Lees-McRae
LMC finished the year with a 1-16 mark and fell in its final 13 matches of the season. Sunday's contest for LMC is its season opener.
Scouting North Carolina A&T
The Aggies posted a 1-16 record in 2017. NC A&T's leading singles winner in Adair Bartra is back after netting five victories in singles play. Nicolas Arduh was 1/2 of the top duo with three wins for NC A&T. His four doubles wins were the most on the team and accounted for half of the Aggies' doubles wins.
Appalachian will host North Carolina Central on Friday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. for the third of a three-match homestand.
