App State Falls to South Alabama in SBC Tournament

Box Score FOLEY, Ala. - Appalachian State University women's soccer fell to top-seeded South Alabama in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex.

The Jaguars advance to the semifinal round to face Little Rock on Friday, while the 2017 season has concluded for App.

USA would score both of its goals within an 11-minute span at the 32nd and 43 third minutes of the first half. The Mountaineers held the Jaguars scoreless for the first 31 minutes of the stanza, which saw Taylor Ray come up with some big saves,  while Lindsey Tully would fire the Apps' lone
attempt at the goal.

Despite the setback, the Apps shutout the Jaguars in the second half, as Ray notched five stops in the period and eight overall.

App State ends the season with a 4-11-4 mark but will return the likes of Kat Greer, Ava Dawson, Emmily Cowie and a plethora of talented underclassmen. The Mountaineers will expect to bounce back and have strong season in 2018.
