Men's Cross Country Places 11th in SE Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Michael Ellis paced the Appalachian State University men's cross country team to an 11th place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday. As a team, Appalachian State placed 11th with 368 team points. 

Ellis led the Mountaineers with a 38th place overall finish in a time of 31:10.5 in the men's 10,000m race.

“Mike Ellis led a team to the best finish in a couple years,” said head coach Michael Curcio. “We had four guys under 32 minutes, which was one of our goals. Our goal was to have five guys in the top 100 and we had four in the top 80. The guys were motivated to keep their ranking and they did a good job."

Chris Anderson finished in 63rd place for App State and finished with a time of 31:43. Close behind was Kyle McFoy who placed 75th and ran a time of 31:52.

To give the Mountaineers four runners in the top 80 overall, Josh Cox finished 78th and ran a time of 31:53.6, while Evan Laratta finished 125th with a time of 32:44.8.

The Mountaineers will now look forward to the indoor track and field season to begin in the next few weeks.
