CLEVELAND — Fresh off anchoring App State Field Hockey to an undefeated opening weekend,
Dakota Anderson has been named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
This marks the first career honor for the Williamsburg, Va, native following a standout opening weekend in the cage. Anderson tallied nine total saves and allowed just one goal across two contests, earning her first career shutout in her first collegiate start.
In the season opener against Towson, Anderson turned away four shots and defended six penalty corners, keeping the Tigers off the board for the entirety of regulation before the Mountaineers sealed the victory in overtime.
She followed that performance against Georgetown by keeping App State within striking distance. Anderson recorded three back-to-back saves on a single Georgetown possession in the fourth quarter, paving the way for the Mountaineers' late comeback victory in overtime.
The Mountaineers return to action at 6 p.m. Wednesday when they travel to face Davidson. App State enters the matchup riding a five-game winning streak against the Wildcats.
