Duval Named Sun Belt Golfer of the Week

BOONE, N.C. — App State's Zoe Duval has been named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Golfer of the Week following her first-place finish in a field of 91 players at the Babs Steffens Invitational on Tuesday.

Duval recorded a hole-in-one to take the lead late in the opening round outside of Orlando and posted a 69-69-68—206 total of 7 under to win by five strokes while setting a program record for the best 54-hole score.

Duval was the only competitor in the field to post a score in the 60s, and she did it in all three rounds. Only two players in the field posted a final score better than 4 over.

Trailing by one shot after the first 16 holes, Duval used a 7-iron on the 150-yard 17th hole and recorded an ace to move from even to 2 under. Another 2-under 69 in the second set of 18 holes Monday afternoon gave Duval a three-shot lead entering Tuesday's final round. She played the first six holes at 3 under (with four birdies and one bogey) to quickly build a four-shot advantage.

Duval medaled for the second time in the last three events, as she was the co-medalist in the final tournament of the fall. She broke the program's 54-hole record of 211 that she had set in September during a runner-up finish at the Elon Invitational.

App State's team finished second in the 16-team field Tuesday.

The 2025-26 season is presented by Hound Ears Club. The Mountaineers are back in action from March 2-3 at the River Landing Classic hosted by UNCW in Wallace.
